Trains delayed due to farmers' agitation in Punjab
Jalandhar, Jan 31 (UNI) The Delhi bound 2032 Amritsar-Delhi Shatabdi Express remained stranded at the Manawala Station for 3 hours this evening following blockade by the agitating farmers.
They staged a dharna against the acquiring of agricultural land by the Trident Group at Fategarh Chana in Barnala district.
A railway spokesman told UNI here that the farmers blocked the railway tracks near Manawal disrupting rail traffic on the busy Amritsar-Delhi route for three hours.
This delayed several trains.
Delhi bound Shatabdi Express, which was scheduled to reach here at about 1800 hrs, came three hours late.
Besides Shatabdi Express, several trains including Howrah Mail and 3050 Howrah Express and 8102 Murrie Express were also delayed by one and a half hours to two hours.
Two Amritsar bound trains, 5707 Katihar Amritsar Express and 333 Ambala Amritsar Passenger also remained stranded at Jalandhar Station for about an hour.
