Sarna condemns move to use Modi in Punjab poll campaign

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) Condemning the proposed visit to Punjab by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to campaign for the forthcoming polls there, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president Harvinder Singh Sarna today alleged that BJP's move was aimed at promoting a Hindutva agenda in the state.

''It is clear that Mr Badal is unable to rein his alliance from their saffronisation agenda in Punjab,''Mr Sarna said in a statement issued here.

Mr Sarna alleged that in the recent elections to the DSGMC, the Sikh sangat had given their verdict against Akali Dal (Badal) due to their alliance and support of the RSS in the election campaign.

''It has been exposed before the Sangat that Akali Dal (Badal) could not campaign without crutches of the BJP and the RSS.

Therefore, Akali Dal (Badal) have no right to represent the Sikh community,''he said.
