New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) After keeping television viewers enthralled over the last three months with a ''continuous outpouring of emotions'' in the reality show 'Bigg Boss', Sony is now embarking on a series of shows celebrating ''women power'' as part of its endeavour to keep the excitement levels going.

'Bigg Boss' may have generated for the channel huge viewership levels by hooking audiences to the ''unscripted and unpredictable drama'' marking interactions of the celebrities confined to the 'Bigg Boss' house, but now its time for Sony to move on to familiar territory - fictional dramas that hope to make the viewers ''laugh as well as cry'' with an emotional roller coaster ride marking the lives of two women with diverse backgrounds.

Ready to air on the channel from Monday, in the '10 to 11' slot, are 'Durgesh Nandini' and 'Jeete Hain Jiske Liye', shows that chart journey of two women from ordinary beings to extraordinary characters, albeit in diverse circumstances.

'Durgesh Nandini', to be aired Mondays to Thursdays at 10 pm, deals with the story of how a girl, who believes in the serene and simple life practised in a village, manages to win hearts in a city with urban complexities totally alien to her nature.

Playing the title role in the serial is television actor Rinku Ghosh.

The other serial 'Jeete Hain Jiske liye', to be aired at the 10:30 pm slot, is an emotional journey of a woman framed for murder and sentenced for 20 years of imprisonment.

''It is essentially about a woman who is a devoted wife as well as a loving mother who loses eevrything in life overnight to live a life of solitude for over two decades,'' Chief Creative Director of Sony Entertainment television said at a press conference here today.

'Jeete Hain Jiske Liye' has the bubbly and talented TV actor Renuka Shahane making a comeback on television after a gap of almost five years in the role of the protagonist Anjali, a modern educated city-bred woman who emerges a winner amid the harsh realities of life.

Renuka, who was present at the press meet, said it was the wide range of emotions experienced by the protagonist Anjali in the serial that led her to take up this project almost five years after she took a break from TV to attend to her family responsibilities.

''Initially, I was hesitant to work in the show as my children are very small and I was loathing to leave them alone at home.

However, Sandip convinced me to take it up with the beauty of the story and the intensity of the character.

''In fact, in today's scenario, where television has changed a lot from what it was when I took a break five years ago, I am extremely proud to have been offered such a role which involves portrayal of a wide range of emotions and diverse situations. It was a script to die for,'' Renuka said.
