Patel lays stone for India's largest greenfield textile park project
Ahmedabad, Feb 1 (UNI) The 'bhoomi poojan' (foundation stone laying ceremony) for India's first private sector textile park 'Green Field Textile Park' was performed by former chief minister Keshubhai Patel, near here, today.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who was slated to do the 'bhoomi poojan' for the park -- spread across 115 hectares of land on the Bavala-Bagodara highway -- could not make it. Instead, Mr Patel performed the ceremony.
Set up by Pradip Overseas Ltd, one of India's largest leading exporters of household linens and a government recognised star trading house, the park is expected to be the largest integrated textile park in the country with an installed capacity of five lakh metres of grey cloth and in a sense unique for all its activities relating to spinning, weaving, processing, stitching, packaging and dispatching, all would be under one roof.
Among others present at the function were Vadodara MLA Jayaben Thakkar, Ellisbridge MLA Bhavin Sheth, mahant of Jagannath Temple at Ahmedabad Ramchandradasji and 'gadhipathi' of Sathadhar (in Saurashtra) Vijay Bhagat.
