Ordinance for compulsory sharing of sports telecast: Cabinet

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) The government today decided to issue an ordinance for compulsory sharing of telecast of sports events by private channels with the official media, Doordarshan and All India Radio.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters here.

The government also decided to ban till the end of September 2007 the export of skimmed milk powder (SMP) to bridge the widening demand-supply gap in milk as was reflected by the Re one a litre increase in the milk sold by Mother Dairy.

Further, the Hindustan Machine Tools (HMT) would be converted into a viable unit with a joint venture partner through the infusion of Rs 723 crore.
