Srinagar, Feb 1 (UNI) The chairman of the moderate Hurriyat Conference (HC) Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq today said the forces against the peace process between India and Pakistan were behind last night's grenade attack on amalgam headquarters.

''We would not be cowed down by such an attack and will continue to strive for bringing peace to Jammu and Kashmir'', he told a gathering at Jehangir Chowk near here after his return from Pakistan where he met President General Pervaz Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz and other leaders.

Without naming anyone for the attack Mr Omar said, ''such incidents would only make our resolve harder.'' A vehicle was damaged when a grenade hurled by unidentified persons fell in the compound of the HC headquarter at Rajbagh.

However, no one was injured.

Mr Omar said his tour to Pakistan along with two other amalgam leaders --Prof Abdul Gani Bhat and Bilal Gani Lone-- was to find an honourable solution to the Kashmir issue acceptable to all.

The third member of the delegation, Prof Abdul Ghani Bhat, has decided to extend his stay in Pakistan by a few more days.

Earlier, Mirwaiz and Mr Lone were given a rousing reception by thousands of their party workers at the airport.

Among other slogans, the supporters of Mirwaiz and Lone were raising pro-Pakistani slogans.
