Lalbagh skeletons beacon date with history
Lalbagh, Feb 01 (UNI) Even as a pond dug out near the correctional sub-jail here pushed out around 50 skeleton pieces, speculations ranged them from between the British era in India to the Nashipur riots some 30 years back.
Superintendent of Police Rahul Srivastava told UNI, ''28 skull pieces and 50 bones were recovered from the area which lead to three posibilities.'' The local government doctor said the bones could be hundreds of years old but the presence of a large stock of limestone from the area could mean that the bones were meant to decompose fast, Mr Srivastava said.
'' In that case it could be 50 years old or even 10-15 years old, but there are no recorded evidence of any big crime in the last twenty years which will prompt a thorough police inquiry.
But a final decision in this regard can be taken by an expert forensic team. A forensic team from Kolkata led by Nabarun Bhattacharya is expected here any moment.
