Four dead, 18 injured in fire in Essar Oil refinery
Jamnagar, Feb 1 (UNI) Four people were killed and 18 others injured in a fire that broke out in the Essar Oil's refinery at Vadinar early today, a company spokesman said.
However, the refinery is functioning normally, said Mr Prashant Pandya, vice-president, Corporate communications, of the company.
''Pipe welding was being carried out at the pig launching station when sparks led to the fire,'' said another company official.
The fire was brought under control by refinery personnel quickly, he said.
The injured have been shifted to Jamnagar Civil Hospital.
The dead have been identified as Munna Kumar Shah, 40, Pradyuman Singh, 23, Rajesh Singh Rajput, 25 and Ananto Mandal, aged 42. THey were all contract employees working at the refinery complex.
