Deadly RDX recovered, major tragedies averted in J and K

Srinagar, Feb 1 (UNI) Security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including deadly RDX, and thwarted two major tragedies in Jammu and Kashmir overnight, A police spokesman said.

He said Kulgam police during routine checking recovered a live grenade from a Sumo at Chawalgam in south Kashmir today.

In another incident, a police patrol party detected and later defused a live grenade at Tappar Pattan in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.

He said security forces and police in a joint operation unearthed a hideout and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including five kg RDX, two hand grenades, one detonator, two meters of cordex wire and 30 rounds of ammunition at Kota top area in Doda district of Jammu region. However, no one was arrested.

Meanwhile, militants set afire the house of a surrendered militant at Surankote in Poonch district last night.
