Bollywood exercises franchise for Mumbai civic polls

Mumbai, Feb 1 (UNI) Bollywood personalities today turned out in large numbers to cast their votes for the high-profile Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) election.

Bollywood biggies Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta, Sanjay Dutt, Emran Hashmi, filmmaker -- Yash Chopra, directors -- Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Ashok Pandit, debutants -- Vatsal Sheth, Sikander Kher, Kunal Kapoor, actress-MP Hema Malini, Sarod maestro Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, lyricists -- Gulzar, Javed Aktar, Shabana Azmi, Kiron Kher, Swaroop Sampat, Raza Murad were prominent among those who exercised their franchise.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, who hit his 41st ODI century in Vadodara against West Indies yesterday, cast his vote in Bandra along with wife Anjali.

Urgent attention should be paid to basic infrastructure and civic amenities in the metropolis, they said adding.
