BJP favours rise in capacity of Pothireddypadu regulator
Tirupati, Feb 1 (UNI) The BJP is in favour of enhancing capacity of the Pothireddypadu head regulator for utilisatioin of flood waters, for irrigation and other purposes, State BJP former President Chilakam Ramachandrareddy said today.
Addressing a press conference he clarified that the party was in favour of increasing the regulator capacity to 44,000 cusecs of water and utilise it for irrigation in Rayalaseema, Nellore and Prakasam districts.
Keeping in view the fact that about hundreds of TMC flood water was going waste into the sea every year from Krishna river, the only option for using flood water was widening the regulator.
Mr Reddy said due to the increase in the height of Almatti dam in Karnataka the duration of flow of flood waters had came down from 45 days to 30 days in a year.
