BJP denies Advani pressurised removal of Sanjay Joshi

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) The BJP today dismissed as ''totally baseless and unfounded'' a report that former Deputy Prime Minister and senior party leader L K Advani exerted pressure for the removal of Mr Sanjay Joshi from the national office-bearers list.

Referring to reports that Mr Advani had asked party President Rajnath Singh for the removal of Mr Joshi, the party clarified in a statement that he was removed from office duty on his personal request.

Mr Joshi was a national general secretary (Organisation) in the previous team of office-bearers. Mr Joshi had resigned from the team in December 2005 at the time of BJP plenary at Mumbai after he was named in a sex scandal but returned to the team of office bearers after he was acquitted in the case.
