Barring some stray incidents of clashes polling in Akola peacefull

Akola, Feb 1 (UNI) Barring stray incidents of clashes, polling was smooth today, with about 60 per cent of the total voters exercising their franchise in 70 wards, Chandrasekhar Rokde, Commissioner of Akola Municipal Corporation here said.

At polling centre no 72 and in ward no 20, Gajanan (25) was taken into custody when he tried to vote in the name of a Muslim voter, sources said.

Polling was delayed by half an hour at Vidya Mandir Kanya Shala polling centre and in ward no 29 following technical fault, sources said.

Names of 2,70,305 persons were there in the voting list and 70 Corporators are to be selected for the wards, sources added.
