15 days of paternity leave for Bihar government staff

Patna, Feb 1 (UNI) Bihar government has decided to grant 15 days of paternity leave for its employees while the maternity leave would be increased from 90 days to 135 days.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today said the decision had been taken in accordance with the recommendations of the fitment committee constituted earlier by the state government.

''The leave would be sanctioned to the employees for their first two children,'' he said. A committee of Economic Affairs of the state cabinet had taken a decision in this regard on August 20, 2000 but it was yet to be implemented, he added.

The NDA government has decided to implement the decision, he said adding the state government earlier assured Bihar Assembly in this connection in March 2003.
