Water released from Puzahal floods suburbs

Chennai, Jan 31 (UNI) Several residential colonies at suburban Puzal were flooded with Krishna water, following copious inflow into the Puzhal lake, which catered to the drinking water needs of this metropolis.

As the Puzhal lake was filled to the brim, the excess water was being let out, leading to the flooding of houses which had encroached upon the lake bed.

About 1,000 houses had been affected and residents were either confined to their homes or evacuated from the place, official sources said.
