Victims of agricultrural operations get Rs 26 cr aid

Chandigarh, Jan 31 (UNI) Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has provided financial assistance of Rs 26.40 crore to 14,982 victims of the Agricultural Operations during the past one year.

This was stated by HSAMB Chairman Shadi Lal Batra here today.

Besides, he said, an amount of Rs 2.40 crore had been given to the farmers under the Krishak Uphar Yojna. The scheme encouraged the farmers to bring their crops to the mandis and was also helpful in curbing the evasion of market fee, he added.

He said the primary objective of the Board had been to set up a marketing infrastructure for better regulation of the purchase, sale, storage and processing of agricultural produce.

There were 106 principal market yards, 178 sub-market yards and 182 purchase centres in the state for providing purchase facilities to the farmers of the state well in time.
