Unity Infraprojects' net profit up by 90 pc

Mumbai, Jan 31: Unity Infraprojects Limited, one the largest civil contractors, has seen its Profit After Tax (PAT) for the nine months of the current financial year ended December 31, climb 90.6 per cent to Rs 31.05 crore from Rs 16.29 crore for the corresponding period last year.

Total Income for the nine months saw a rise of 64 per cent, hitting Rs 369.07 crore from Rs 224.94 crore during the corresponding period last year. Basic and diluted Earnings Per Share (EPS) was at Rs 24.58 per share.

For the quarter ended December 31, Unity Infraprojects' Net Profit was at Rs 13.59 crore, while Total Income was Rs 157.3 crore.

EPS for the quarter was Rs 10.76 per share.

The company's shares were listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange in the current financial year; hence figures for the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year are not available. Of the Rs 171 crores raised via the IPO, Rs 68.54 crore has been utilized till December 31.

Recently, the company bagged a Rs 250 crore contract to construct an IT Park at the Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat, Dona Paula, Goa, in joint venture with BSEL Infrastructure Limited.

The company is also keen to enter the hotel segment in a big way, and is evaluating project opportunities in the real estate space in Goa, Kolkata and Orissa. Unity has recently been awarded, for a bid value of Rs 156 crore, a project for constructing, operating and maintaining a hotel on a Build-Operate-Transfer basis at the Shivchhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune.
