Yesterday, he barged into the staff room, stabbed the teacher indiscriminately and fled. The teacher who sustained several stab injuries, was rushed to the Sattur Government Hospital. But he succumbed on the way.
As the student was an alumni of the school, teachers did not view his entry with suspicion when special classes were being held.
According to police, the student, who was working in a telephone booth near the school had earlier unsuccessfully attempted to commit suicide.
