Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance expressed confidence of maintaining its control over the prestigious Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) even as the Mumbai Congress Committee President Gurudas Kamat said they will be able to break the citadel of the saffron alliance during the corporation elections.

The voting for the prestigious BMC will be held tomorrow while the counting will be held on February 2.

Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai said Shiv Sena has done a lot of work for the development of the city and the voters will definitely give them the opportunity. He claimed that Shiv Sena alone will capture more than 100 seats in the house of 227.

BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawade said his party, which is contesting 72 seats, will be able to win 35 to 45 seats. He said this was the first election to be held in absence of late Pramod Mahajan and even Gopinath Munde could not campaign due to accident.

MRCC President Gurudas Kamat, on the other hand, looked confident of breaking the monopoly of the Sena-BJP alliance in BMC.

Mr Kamat told reporters Congress will be able to win more than 120 seats in the prestigious corporation elections. He urged the voters to exercise their franchise.

NCP, which has an alliance with Congress in the State and Centre, is however, at loggerheads with the same party in Corporation elections.
