'Road communication network is must for development of NE'

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Minister of State for Commerce Jairam Ramesh has stressed the urgent need for development of road communication network in the entire North Eastern Region (NER) for the speedy economic growth.

Inaugurating a day-long seminar here today on ''Look East Policy: A Reality Check'', Mr Ramesh said the NER has tremendous potential to emerge as a major exporting region of the country provided all the necessary infrastructural faclities were in place there.

He said with Government's ''Look East policy'', the region is poised to take advantage of various schemes.

Addressing the seminar many of the speakers agreed with the minister's view and said the Governemnt should also review its industrial policy to attract investment in the region.
