Precious metals up on increase of fresh demand

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) Both the precious metals zoomed up on increase of fresh demand with the white metal edging up by Rs 140 per kg and Gold by Rs 35 per ten gm on the Bombay Bullion Exchange today.

Silver fineness opened high at Rs 19,845 per kg on good demand.

Later, it improved and closed at Rs 19,870 with a gaining of Rs 140 from Tuesday's close.

In London, the white metal was quoted low at 13.32/13.36 per troy ounce against US 13.34/13.36 per troy ounce in New York.

Similary, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) opened upward at Rs 9,265 and Rs 9,315 per ten gm respectively on better buying support.

The yellow metal slightly improved and closed at Rs 9,275 and Rs 9,325 per ten gm respectively with a gain of Rs 35 and Rs 30 respectively from its last close.

In London, the yellow metal went slightly up to USD 643.80/646.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 642.40/644.40 per troy ounce in New York on Tuesday.

Following are the spot silver and gold closing prices: Silver (per kg) .999 grade : Rs 19,870 (19,730), Gold (per 10 gm): Standard mint 99.5 purity : Rs 9,275 (9,240), Pure gold 99.9 purity : Rs 9,325 (9,295).
