Police seize 300 duplicate tickets of India-Windies match
Vadodara, Jan 31 (UNI) City police arrested seven persons for allegedly selling duplicate tickets of India-West Indies one-day international match at the IPCL ground here today.
Police sources said a large number of people were detained after they were found to be carrying fake gallery tickets of denominations of Rs 200.
Following interrogation of the fake ticket holders, police laid a trap and arrested as many as seven persons red-handed from the nearby areas while selling such tickets in black market. As a result of intensive checking and arrest of the seven, about 300 fake tickets were seized, sources said.
Police, who were investigating into the racket, said the arrested youths were from different parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
Earlier, a youth from Nagpur was arrested by the Jawaharnagar police near the IPCL pavilion yesterday with a duplicate ticket.
Following the detection of the fake ticket, the organisers had tightened the security and the ticket checking systems at all the entry points to the stadium.
