Over 50 injured in police lathicharge

Karnal, Jan 31 (UNI) More than 50 people were injured in police lathicharge at Birrayat Khana village in Karnal district in Haryana to day.

Police resorted to lathicharge when the villagers were protesting against the local authorities taking possession of village land for a private party as per a court order.

The injured included women and children.Thirty two of the injured were admitted to Indri civil hospital.

However SHO Manveer Singh said police resorted to lathicharge only to disperse the crowd of villagers that was obstructing their work.

Meanwhile police booked 250 people and arrested half a dozen persons in this connection.
