New Civil Aviation, Power Secretaries named

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Mr Ashok Chawla was today named the new Civil Aviation Secretary and his batch-mate Mr Anil Razdan new Power Secretary in a major bureaucratic reshuffle.

An official announcement here said the new appointments, mostly of the 1973 batch of the I A S officers and cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, will take effect from tomorrow.

Mr J P Singh from the Rajasthan cadre was the only officer from the 1972 batch of the IAS who was cleared by the ACC. He will be Secretary in the Ministry of Mines. He is currently Secretary in the Department of Disinvestment under the Ministry of Finance.

Mr Brahm Dutt (Karnataka cadre), who is at present Special Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training (Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions), will be the new Chairperson of National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention at the Cabinet Secretariat.

Ashok Chawla (Gujarat cadre) is presently Special Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance. Mr Anil Razdan (Haryana cadre) is presently Special Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas .

Bihar cadre officer U N Panjiar, who is presently Special Secretary in Ministry of Power, will take over as Secretary (Border Management) in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
