NCB seized drugs worth Rs 100 cr last year

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) The Anti-Narcotic Bureau (NCB) of Mumbai police has seized drugs worth Rs 100 crore in the International Market during the calender year 2006.

Addressing mediapersons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP-Narcotics) Dilip Shrirao said the department had conducted several raids during the last four-five months in various parts of the city.

He said we are keeping a close watch on hotels, restaurants and discotheques following the rave party in a hotel at Bhayender in Neighbouring Thane District last year.

Elaborating about inflow of drugs such as charas coming in the city from Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Jharkhand. heroin was coming from Rajasthan either by train or road transport.

Quoting last year's statistics Shrirao said for drugs such as - heroin 116 people were arrested and 13.652 kgs were seized.

About 160 people were arrested and 282.865 kgs of cocaine were seized.

As many as 41 people were arrested with three kgs of mandrax and four persons were arrested with ecstacy of two kg and 270 gms.
