MP gets award for bio diesel promotion
New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today received an award for the best performance in petroleum conservation and better use of bio-diesel promotion in the category of bigger state.
The award was presented to the State Government by Mr Anil Razdan, Special Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, on the concluding day of a week long function organised by the Ministry here.
Mr A N Asthana, Principal Secretary, Food and Consumer Affairs received the award on behalf of the Madhya Pradesh Government.
According to an official release, the state government had planted Jatropha in an area of 14,369 hectares till 2005-06 while it had targetted plantation of Jatropha in an area of 1,99,000 hectares in the current year 2006-07.
It is proposed that plantation of Jatropha will be done on 20 per cent of the waste land which represents 11.58 hectares. The total land under Jatropha plantation in the country stands at about 1.2 lakh hectares.
