Mobile users set to look at their handsets differently with 'Plus'

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) Star Mobile Entertainment today announced the launch of 'Plus', a new service that claims to change the way consumers use their mobile devices.

'Plus' is a 24 hour solution for GPRS mobile users to catch up on TV, search for information, shop and bank on-the-go and to access entertainment and information - all on their mobile phones, Viren Popli, senior vice president of Star Mobile Entertainment told mediapersons here today.

The service will be operational by the end of February. He said 'Plus' will take entertainment on mobile phone to a whole new level, offering a variety of television entertainment content from Star India network. 'Plus' will provide daily mobisodes of popular content from Star Plus, Star Gold and Star One 15 minutes after they are aired on the channels.

Plus will also offer a range of information services in partnership with brands like HDFC bank for banking and related service, travel and ticketing by makemytrip.com and travelguru.com, yellow pages inforamtion from infomedia group, Music content from Universal Music, he added.

The consumer will be able to preview ring tones, wallpapers, games before downloading and also be a part of the 'Plus Community', which will soon allow consumers to be a part of communities and blogs.

Plus empowers mobile consumers to do more with their mobile phones.

The GPRS mobile user can now access wide choice of video content and services such as yellow pages, buyer guides, banking, travel, shopping, he added.

Replying to questions, Mr Popli said Plus was in talks with different operators to decide on the mode of revenue sharing and cost to be incurred by the consumer. ''We are planning a monthly rental for unlimited usage. The cost of content and delivery would be separate,'' he added.

Channels other than Star Network would also be roped in on the Plus platform in future, he added.
