Metal prices decline further on poor demand

Mumbai, Jan 31 (UNI) Metal prices declined further today on thin buying support, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said.

In the ferrous section, Copper heavy and Brass cuttings went up by Rs 500 and 200 respectively per quintal due to increase of fresh demand. Brass utencils and Brass cuttings slashed by Rs 200 and Rs 500 respectively due to improved offers by stockists.

In the non-ferrous section, Copper wire bar and Zinc slab eased by Rs 200 each per quintal and Lead Ingot also fell by Rs 100 due to sluggish demand.

Tin slab and Nickel cathode too declined by Rs three and Rs 40 per kg.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 30,700, Copper utensils - Rs 29,200, Brass tensils - Rs 22,800, Brass cuttings - Rs 24,000 and Aluminium tensils - Rs 11,400.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 33,700, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,300, Zinc slab Rs 19,800, Lead ingots - Rs 7,500, Tin slab - Rs 615 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 1,870 (per kg).
