Meghalaya police seize huge cache of explosives

Shillong, Jan 31 (UNI) Meghalaya police recovered a huge cache of explosives from Sutnga village in state's Jaintia Hills district, and arrested one person in this connection.

Police found explosives comprising four boxes of gelatine sticks and 400 detonators.

Jaintia Hills district Superintendent of Police H Nongpluh told UNI over the phone from Jowai that one person was arrested for illegally possessing explosives at his residence in Sutnga.

The arrested person identified as one A Bamon was currently under police custody, he said adding that interrogation was on to glean further information.

Last week, the state police along with the CRPF personnel seized 371 gelatine sticks and 166 detonators from Pynursla village bordering the Indo-Bangla border.

Meanwhile, police had registered a case against Bamon under Explosives Act.
