Major tragedies averted by troops in Kashmir
Srinagar, Jan 31 (UNI) Troops today averted three major tragedies when they detected and defused three live grenades and a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at three different places in the Kashmir valley.
A police spokesman said an army patrol the detected an IED planted near Petrol Pump Sheeri on the Baramulla-Uri road.
The IED was later safely diffused by the Bomb Disposal Squad.
He said troops of 2nd Rashitriya Rifles (RR) during routine patrolling at Check Kawoosa in Badgam district noticed two live hand grenades on the roadside.
The entire area was immediately cordoned off and people shifted to a safer a place.
Later, the bomb disposal squad was summoned who defused both the grenades without causing any damage.
Troops also recovered some arms and ammunition in the nearby area. However, no one was arrested.
Pattan Police detected a live grenade at Tapper Payeen in Baramulla district this afternoon.
The area was immediately sealed to prevent any mishap or civilian causality.
Later the BDS diffused the grenade safely.
