Jabalpur, Jan 31 (UNI) The local railway station was comprehensively searched for about an hour today by the police after the district administration received a letter saying bombs would be triggered there.

''The unsigned communication, addressed to District Collector Sanjay Dubey, was opened by his private secretary and handed over to the Government Railway Police this afternoon. GRP, Railway Protection Force, district police personnel, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad reached the station. No explosive material was found,'' said GRP Deputy Superintendent R K Pande.

The Howrah Mail, which arrived at the station, was also searched.

Tension prevailed here on Republic Day after a religious programme's posters were torn late in the night at Kamania Ghat leading to a confrontation between two communities. Curfew clamped in six police station areas was lifted this morning.

Mohurram and a Hindu gathering passed off peacefully while the Jain community's nine-day Panch Gajrath Mahotsav is underway since January 25.
