Kila Raipur Olympics dedicated to Raj Kumar and Nathu Ram

Ludhiana, Jan 31 (UNI) The Grewal Sports Association is all set to organise the 72nd Parle G Kila Raipur Sports Festival, popularily known as the Rural Olympics and the Bhagwant Memorial Gold Cup Hockey Tournament from February 1 to 4 at the Grewal Sports Stadium Kila Raipur.

This year the games have been dedicated to Raj Kumar, former international hockey player and sports adminstrator and Nathu Ram, father of the famous Saini sisters (Prema, Rupa, Krishna and Swarna), who had donned Indian colours in hockey.

Prominents sportspersons of India who have excelled in sports and different walks of life will be the honoured guests at the games, a release issued by the organisers stated today.

Punjab Director General of Police Rajdeep Singh Gill, who is also president of Basketball Federation of India and Teja Singh Dhaliwal Secretary of Punjab Basketball, Mrs Amrit Gill, international cyclist, Ajmer Singh, Sajjan Cheema, Paramjit Singh Teja (all basketball), Balbir Singh of Railways, Davinder Singh Garcha, Arvind Chhabra, Hardeep Singh Grewal, Ramandeep Singh Grewal, Jagdeep Singh Gill, Harpreet Singh, Baljit Singh Dhillon (all hockey), Parminder Singh, Sukhvinder Singh (both football), Jaipal Singh (boxing), Brig. Labh Singh, Dr Ajmer Singh (athletics), Sukhchain Cheema and Palwinder Cheema (wrestling) and Jaiveer Singh (boxing) will be guests of honour on February three.

Ashok Arora, Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana and Pargat Singh, Director of Sports Punjab and S K Verma, SSP Jagraon, will also grace the occasion.

Lt General N Thamburaj GOC 11 Corps, hockey Olympian Col Balbir and the famous Saini sisters will be the guests of honour on February 4.
