JK Assembly twice adjourned over fake encounters
Jammu, Jan 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned twice today over the Opposition National Conference's protests against fake encounters in the state.
Opposition members, while demanding a separate discussion on human rights violations, stalled the assembly proceedings and Speaker Tara Chand had to adjourn the house twice.
Proceedings in Legislative Concil were also repeatedly disrupted as opposition leaders staged noisy and raised slogans like 'Mulzimon ko saza do (punish the guilty)' and 'Down with fake encounters'.
Leader of the opposition Abdul Rahim Rather said the government had been claiming zero tolerance on human rights violation while fake encounters were taking place in Jammu and Kashmir.' Ruling coalition partner People's Democratic Party's Ghulam Hassan Mir said this was an issue that concerned all members and demanded a special discussion on the issue.
