HC rejects bail plea of Vikas Yadav

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today dismissed the bail application of accused Vikas Yadav, charged with abduction and murder of Delhi Executive Nitish Katara.

Justice A K Sikri rejected the application after hearing the arguments for two days.

Senior Counsel Dinesh Mathur, appearing for Vikas Yadav, had submitted that the recording of the statements of Bharti Yadav, the sister of the main accused had been completed and the situation had changed in the intervening period.

Counsel Mukta Gupta appearing for the police, opposed the plea, saying Vikas had already been convicted and sentenced to four year's imprisonment in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Mr Mathur said the accused has already served his sentence and would be entitled to be released on bail.

Vikas and Vishal had allegedly killed Nitish for his alleged friendship with their sister Bharti on the intervening night of February 17-18, 2002 in neighbouring Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.

Vikas is the son of former Rajya Sabha Parliamentarian D P Yadav.
