Gorakhpur flareup: HYV activists stage violent protests
Varanasi, Jan 31 (UNI) Demanding the immediate release of BJP MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath, the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) activists went on the rampage here today.
Shouting anti-UP government slogans, the mob stopped an Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) bus, coming from Lucknow at the Shivpur bypass, and after directing the passengers to alight from the vehicle, damaged it.
The protestors cautioned, ''if the BJP MP would not be released, the violent protests would continue.'' On being informed, police reached the spot but the protestors had by then managed to escape.
Last night, the HYV activists had torched an UPSRTC bus in the Paharia area under Sarnath police station. There, however, no casuality was reported.
Meanwhile, BJP activists blocked the road near the Sadar Tehsil in the Shivpur area, demanding Yogi Adityanath's quick release. The road block, however, was cleared after police intervention.
