Khajuraho, MP, Jan 31 (UNI) Enamoured by Indian tradition, a Scotland-resident has adopted the Hindu religion and has tied the knot with his Indian girlfriend in this world-renowned tourist destination.

The couple -- Steven (32) and Vinita (28) -- entered into wedlock last evening. Earlier, Steven had adopted the Hindu religion and changed his name to Jeevan.

Prior to the marriage, Steven performed 'puja' in Mangteshwar temple.

The wedding procession -- comprising the groom, his relatives and the usual trappings -- was welcomed by the bride's father Girija Prasad Sen, mother Gayatri and other relatives.

Two years ago Steven had met Vinita, who was then working in New Delhi. Both fell in love and Steven took Vinita to Scotland where both began to work as teachers.

Now, both have to come to India for their wedding. Vinita's father is a retired employee of Shilpgram, while his mother is a teacher.

Before this marriage, wedding of 34 foreign couples had been solemnised as per Indian rituals and traditions. In two of the weddings, Indian girls had married foreigners, but in other cases Indian men had married foreigners.
