Five injured after night attack in Asom

Mangaldoi, Jan 31(UNI) Unidentified miscreants attacked and injured five members of a single family and burnt down eight houses belonging to them in Hukunajuli village near Mazbat in Darrang district last night.

Official sources said here today that a group of 25 to 30 people, with faces covered in black clothes, came to the house of one Rajat Singh and attacked his family members with sharp weapons.

Three of the injured were shifted to the Guwahati medical College (GMC) in critical condition.

Police suspected intra-family rivalry behind the gruesome attack, which has shocked the people of the area.

Police, however, ruled out any links of the incident to insurgency attack.
