Consumer forum fines Air Sahara Rs 78,000 for dishonouring ticket

Jaipur, Jan 31 (UNI) A consumer forum here has imposed a fine of Rs 78,000 on private airline Air Sahara for dishonouring three confirmed tickets.

The District Consumer Forum II Jaipur also pulled up the ground staff of the airline at Sanganeer airport for misbehaving and being discourteous to the passengers.

Mrs Manisha Metha, a resident of City's Civil Lines area had bought three tickets on the airline 26 days in advance for Hyderabad. Citing 'unavialability' the airline did not alow Mrs Mehta and her two children to board the plane on the scheduled day.

The consumer forum, upholding Mrs Mehta's claim for compensation from the airline and the two airline staff, ordered Air Sahara to pay Rs 50,000 for mental harassment and Rs 25,000 for the insult suffered due to the staff and Rs 3000 for litigation fee.
