BJP pays tributes to 1953-Praja Parishad martyrs
Jammu, Jan 31 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today paid rich tributes to six patriotic martyrs, who laid down their lives during the 1953-Praja Parishad agitation in Akhnoor near here.
BJP State president Ashok Khajuria, while paying tributes to the martyrs at Shaheedi Sthal, Jourian, said the 1953-Praja Parishad agitation was launched with the slogan -- 'Ek Vidhan-Ek Nishan-Ek Pradhan' (one Constitution and one flag) to ensure full integration of JK state with the rest of the country.
He said during the agitation, the patriotic people had come on a platform to register their protest against the separate Constitution, separate flag, separate 'Sadar-e-Riyasat' and the Permit System, under which any one wishing to visit the state has to obtain a permit.
''The sacrifices of these people did achieve a little success after the post of 'Sadar-e-Riyasat' was abolished. But the mission of the agitation will be fulfilled when the Indian Constitution and the Indian tricolor will only remain in the state,'' he said.
