Beas clash investigation entrusted to SIT: CM
Jalandhar, Jan 31 (UNI) Against the wishes of Opposition Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal)'s demand for a CBI inquiry into the incident of clash between SAD and Congress workers in Beas two days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said that a special investigation team (SIT) had already been entrusted the investigation and guilty would be dealt appropriately.
Talking to reporters here today, Mr Singh said that government would ensure appropriate action against all guilty in the incident.
He said that such incidents would not be allowed to reoccur in the state during the election campaign and the government would take all effective measures to conduct free and fair elections in peaceful manner.
Over another incident of verbal duel between Amritsar Lok Sabha by poll contestants Surinder Singla and Navjot Singh Sidhu in Amritsar, the Chief Minister said that Mr Sidhu was responsible for the ugly situation as he could not reply Singla's provocative argument in a logical manner.
