Air Marshal Iyer to head personnel division
New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Air Vice Marshal V R Iyer has been made Air Officer in charge of Personnel.
Promoted to the rank of Air Marshal, he will take over charge at Air Headquarters tomorrow from Air Marshal Y R Rane who is proceeding as AOC-in-C, SAC, an official statement said here today.
Born on November 10, 1950, Air Marshal Iyer was commissioned in the fighter stream of Indian Air Force on January 22, 1972.
Having more than 3000 hours of flying to his credit, he has flown MiG-21 variants, Jaguars and training aircraft.
Being a qualified flying instructor, he has imparted training at Air Force Station, Bidar and Air Force Academy, Dundigal (Hyderabad). He has also been a DS at DSSC Wellington.
He has commanded a Jaguar Squadron, been station commander of Air Force Station, Suratgarh and Air Officer Commanding Air Force Station, Ambala.
He was Commandant of College of Air Warfare before his new appointment.
