Agricultural labourers hold demo

Puducherry, Jan 31 (UNI) As many as 1,000 agricultural labourers owing allegence to the Communist Party of India (CPI) were arrested when they attempted to picket government offices at Puducherry and Karaikal.

The agitators who announced a demonostration to press their demands, including the setting up of a welfare association for them and provision of pension as announced by the government earlier, resorted to a picketing forcing the police to arrest them.
