8 crushed to death, 6 injured near Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Jan 31: At least eight pilgrims were today killed and six others injured when a truck ran over them near Bagodara on the Bagodara-Tarapur highway, 45 km from here.

According to police, the pilgrims were on their way to Chotila on foot when the accident occurred. Four, including a woman, died on the spot while others succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The 'padyatris' were to visit the holy Chamunda Mata temple atop a hillock, the police added.

No arrests have been made yet.

The dead have been identified as Dinesh Solanki (35), Ramilaben Vasava, Girish Parmar (40), Raghubhai Thakur (55), Dayabhai Parmar, Gordhan Parekh (50), Jaggu Gohil and Magan Thakore.
