7-member dacoit gang busted in Jamnagar

Jamnagar, Jan 31 (UNI) Jamnagar police arrested a 7-member gang comprising five men and two women last night from a house in Punithnagar area here.

The police team arrested the seven persons who have been identified as - Vallabh Babu Solanki, Hamir Bhima Solanki, Kishor Babu Solanki, Prakash Hamir Solanki, Ranjit Vallabh Solanki and Mukta Solanki (wife of Vallabh Solanki) and Jaya Solanki (wife of Hamir Bhima Solanki) - all from Santalpur village of Junagadh.

They all belonged to 'Devipujak' sect. This gang is said to have robbed 30 houses in Vanthali (Junagadh), Manavadar (Dhoraji), Jam-Khambhaliya (Gandhidham) and in places like Jetpur, Gondal in Rajkot and also in Surat.

Jamnagar SP Piyushbhai Patel addressing mediapersons here today said that from the accused goods worth Rs 5.21 lakhs have been recovered out of which there are claimants for goods worth Rs 2.28 lakh. The stolen goods included gold-silver ornaments, colour TVs, DVD&VCD players, sarees, clothes and cash. Police will be producing them in court tomorrow.
