31 Assam Rifles to celebrate raising day

Shillong, Jan 31 (UNI) The 31 Assam Rifles will be celebrating its 20th raising day tomorrow.

The unit, raised on February one, 1998 at Saitul in Mizoram, is presently located at Kashi Ram Basti in Nagaland.

During its 20 years, the Unit had shown credible display in conducting military operation as well as civic action.

In counter-insurgency operation, the Unit has the distinction of capturing a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, besides eliminating a large number of hardcore militants.

The unit had also won two Shaurya Chakras, four Sena medals and a large number of other gallantry awards and medals besides the Chief of Army Staff citation.
