21.28 lakh voters to decide fate of 2,317 candidates in Vidarbha
Nagpur, Jan 31 (UNI) A total of 21.28 lakh voters will cast their ballot at 1,840 booths to decide the fate of 2,317 candidates contesting the municipal corporation elections from 186 wards in Nagpur, Amravati and Akola in Vidarbha region of Maharashtra tomorrow.
The three civic bodies in the region are going to the polls along with seven others in the State on February 1.
In Nagpur, 14.40 lakh voters will exercise their franchise at 1,247 booths, to decide the fate of 1,147 candidates from 135 wards.
Election in one ward has been countermanded due to the death of one candidate there.
In Amravati, 2.83 lakh voters will decide the fate of 672 candidates in the 81 wards, and will cast their ballot at 340 booths.
In Akola, 498 candidates are in the fray from the 70 wards where polls are being held, with the Congress nominee in one ward having been elected unopposed. A total of 4.05 lakh voters will cast their ballot at 253 polling booths.
