11 versities to sign MoU with BPR

New Delhi, Jan 31 (UNI) Eleven leading universities and the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR and D) today decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to encourage high-quality research in police areas.

At a Conference, attended by registrars of these Universities, it was decided that all the Universities would conduct a separate study each to make a presentation on May 4 this year in BPR and D Conference Hall on "the reasons of non-registration of FIRs/cases by Police" in the backdrop of Nithari serial killings.

Official sources said the arrangement would help to allow access to researchers in police establishments and police data, besides encouraging relationship between University and ground-level policing and police administration.

The 11 universities are : (i) Sagar University, MP, (ii) North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, (iii) University of Rajasthan, (iv) Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, (v) Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi (vi) Punjab University, Chandigarh, (vii) Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, (viii) Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, (ix) Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, (x) University of Lucknow, UP, (xi) West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata.
