1000 Vehicles to be used for Manipur elections

Imphal, Jan 31 (UNI) About 1000 vehicles including 100 government cars will be used during three phase ninth Assembly Elections scheduled to be held in Manipur on February 8, 14 and 23.

State Chief Electoral Officer R R Rashmi said the private vehicles slightly less than 900 will be hired for elections to 60-member house.

Meanwhile, the returning officers have arranged training facility for election officials about the use of electronic machines, to be used during elections.

The CEO said the Manipur police commandos will not be used for election related purposes. There was adequate security personnel in the state and a section of armed personnel consisting of eight to ten personnel will be stationed in all polling stations. The sensitive stations will be guarded by two or more armed personnel he said.
