Two killed, ten injured after truck ploughs into poll rally

Ludhiana Jan 29 (UNI) Two people were killed and ten injured when a mini truck ploughed into an election rally on Tajpur road in the city, police here said tonight.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when a crowd of people was dispersing after attending the election rally of Hira Singh Gabria, Shiromoni Akali Dal candidate from the Ludhiana rural assembly segment. Police said the driver of the mini truck who was under the influence of liquor lost control over the vehicle causing it to plough into the rally crowd. One of the deceased was identified as Rajinder Singh while the other was identified as a migrant labour. The injured were admitted to various hospitals in the city.

The agitated crowd set fire to the truck after the accident. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape.
