Two injured in group clash

Davanagere, Jan 30 (UNI) A three-day prohibitory orders under section 144 Cr P C were clamped yesterday night following a communal clash in which two persons were injured at Chennagiri 60 kilometres from here.

The police said that a petty quarrel between two groups turned into a clash. The police said the groups pelted stones at each other which forced the police to open fire in the air to quell the angry mob. Timely action by the local police averted the clash turning worse.

Four platoons of Karnataka reserve police and aditional force from Davanagere rushed to reinforce the trouble spot.

Superintendent of Police Sonia Narang rushed to the spot immediately along with police force and brought the situation under control.

A peace meetig has been convened today and appealed to maintain peace and communal harmony.
